Nursery pics
Ok, here are the first pics of the nursery. As you can see there is still a lot to do. Things to hang on the walls and organizing to be done. But it is a start!

24 Weeks

Well, here it is, almost Christmas. I have reached the 24 week mark. Baby is doing really well. I feel baby move just about every couple of hours. Others have had the opportunity to feel baby also. It is so fun to share with all. I am doing pretty good physically. I have started to have a bit of hip pain when I am on my feet too long or sleep weird. Lots of pillow's at night seem to help with it.
We are off to family for Christmas this year and thoughts of next year already fill our heads. It will be so fun having baby to look at the pretty lights on the tree and also to experience all the fun of Christmas. We will cherish this "quieter" Christmas this year!
Happy Holiday's to all!!

22 weeks
Hi all!
Life has been crazy busy lately. Getting ready for the holidays and getting ready for baby sure do take there toll. I am physically feeling great lately (except for not sleeping enough). The 2nd trimester energy has been great. With it come crazy, roller coaster emotions. I am laughing one minute and crying at a commercial the next. I read a baby book in Target the other day and almost had to leave the stores as the tears came. Crazy prego lady coming through!
Baby is doing really well. The kicks and rolls are getting stronger. Mom, sisters and niece have all felt movement along with R on a regular basis now. It is so fun to share with others.
We finally finished the floors and painted the nursery. I hope to have it together soon so I can post a picture of it. I really think it is going to be great.
Here is a 22 week picture from this weekend. R and I got our x-mas pictures taken from a friend of ours and she shot this belly one as well. Take care all!

Baby Pictures
Baby is growing and changing. Here are a couple pictures from our 20 week ultrasound today.

If I was to take a guess, I would definately say that baby has R's feet.

At the ultrasound baby clasp it's hands together and then waved at us. Baby also opened and closed its mouth and even gave us the #1 sign. Oh, baby also made us laugh when it scratched it's butt. Good to know that baby isn't modest!

We've got a mover!
So we are starting to take bets on what type of activity this baby is going to do when it comes out. We have already decide it will walk by day one and should be dancing by day 2. On the first ultrasound baby was so active, we hardly got a picture. During the heartbeat check, baby couldn't sit still long enough to figure out what it was. Well, this week baby made him/herself known to mom and dad.
R was reading a Curious George book to baby and me one night before bed a couple days ago. Afterward, we turned out the lights and R put his hand on my belly. Right then, baby kicked him! This was no gas this time and R felt it as well. Baby continued kicking and doing back flips a little longer so R got to feel it one more time before going to bed.
It was truelly the coolest thing. Very freaking and alien like as well, but cool none the less.
So, soccer player? runner? kickboxing instructor?

17 weeks

Well, here is my 17 week picture. You would think that being a photographer I would be much better about getting these done every week. Oh well, such is life!
I feel bigger, but the picture shows a little rounder.
I am still getting sick during the week but it has gotten better. I am also feeling lots of flutters lately. I am sure that half of them are gas, but it is better to think of the baby moving around rather than a big one brewing! ;)
My in-laws delivered my birthday present from R this past weekend. He got me a piano. Baby is going to love the plunking that I get to do now. It is very relaxing and a nice diversion from tough days. Just don't ask me to perform anything anytime soon, I am no Mozart.
Also-Happy Enagement anniversary to R today. 2 years ago today, he proposed on a cold and windy night. Funny how time flies!

Baby has a heart!
R and I got to hear the heartbeat today. A strong 166 beats per minute.
There is the old wives tale that if the HB is always above 140 then it is a girl, if it is under then it is a boy. I am sure science would say that is rubbish, but happy guessing!

Amazing changes
I am around 16 weeks. Here is what www.babycenter.com has to say about me...
How your baby's growing at 16 weeks:

At 4 1/2 inches long (head to bottom) and 3 1/2 ounces, your baby is about the size of an avocado. In the next three weeks, she'll go through a tremendous growth spurt, though, doubling her weight and adding inches to her length. Her lower limbs are much more developed now. Her head is more erect than it has been, and her eyes have moved toward the front of her head. Your baby's ears are close to their final position, too. Some of her more advanced body systems are working, including her circulatory system and urinary tract. Her heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, circulating her total blood volume through her body many times. (By the end of your pregnancy, this will increase to about 190 quarts.) The patterning of her scalp has begun, though her hair isn't recognizable yet. Although closed, her eyes are moving (slowly), and she's even started growing toenails.

Random thoughts
These last couple weeks have just flown by, so I will try to get in some updates:
Clothes
So I have a new addiction. Baby clothes. They are just too cute to resist. The only thing on my side is that I am cheap, so they are all second hand or on super clearance. Also, I have to stick to everything gender neutral, so that also limits the selection a bit. The best was last weekend. I found a garage sale that was at the house of a family from France. All the little clothes had French phrases on them. Too cute!
Names
I am still not terribly optomistic about picking a name. Here are a few thoughts we (more I) have thought of...
Girl: Calina, Maya Boy: William, Liam, Isiah
And R's favorite from a baby name book: Shangobunny
Here is a picture of what I think little Shangobunny will look like:

Cute story
I was in the bookstore last week and figured we needed a night time story book for baby bliss. I picked up "Goodnight Moon" a favorite from my childhood. When I got home I told R I had a gift for him but that he would have to share. He was also excited to have a book to read to baby at night. I forgot about it until bedtime when R came in with the book. He laid down on my tummy and read the book to baby bliss. It was so cool to hear his low voice vibrating on my tummy. Certain that baby also felt it.

mommy speak?
Ok, so I ran into a group of moms who found out that I was pregnant. They continued their conversation while I tried to keep up. The conversation went something like this...
mom 1: Little Emma's wants to play with Bobby
mom 2: Bobby also is excited to spend time with his new girlfriend Emma
mom 1: (to me) you better enjoy your sleep, that will all change
mom 2: (to me) oh, yeah, and sleeping through the night
mom 1: So is Bobby sleeping well yet?
mom 2: He's doing better, but oops, we better go...someone made a stinky!
I am just not ready for mommy speak yet. The whole time I kept thinking..." there is no way I'll be having conversations like that!" Famous last words I am sure.
Other updates this week...
Thought I felt baby move yesterday. I know, it is way early, but there was certainly something there that I had not felt before. I guess I'll have to see if it gets stronger in the next weeks.
My sisters finally fessed up and admitted they were sick past that magical 12 wk mark. Ugg...guess this is normal!
I do hope to have an updated picture soon, but my photographer (R) has been kinda busy lately. Maybe tonight....

Frustration...
I am really sick of being sick. I was so hopeful last week that I would be feeling better, but I feel like it has gotten worse is some ways. The mornings are a little better, but it is the all day sicky feeling that frustrates me the most. I am so looking forward to the little things like making a nice meal, cleaning the house and just going out to dinner and enjoying it. I know that baby is getting all he/she needs so I suppose that is my main job currently. I just wish I could contribute in other ways. R is great in helping (although he is sick all weekend) He does a lot for me and I am so greatful for that.
We had our first Centering program appt last week. We meet with a group of 10 women, a midwife, a couple nurses and some spouses. It was a good experience to hear what others are going through at the same stage. I think there will be some nice support that will come out of the group.
I did get out for a walk yesterday. It does make me feel better to get my mind off of things for a while.
I'll try to get another belly pic up as well.
Keep me in your thoughts and send little "feel goods" my way.

Turning the corner?
I am officially in my 12th week. I thought this day would never come. I have high hopes for the second trimester. One is that the constant sickness will just disappear. The good news is that I actually have felt a lot better since Friday. Granted it is the weekend and I typically do feel better, but I am still hopeful. I am looking forward to being myself again and enjoying life as I used to. Let's hope I really have "turned the corner"!
Oh, I wanted to include a picture of my cousin Noelle's new baby boy, Fane. A great picture with his Grandpa! There are actually 3 of us cousins with babies on the way.

Dear Baby Bliss
Dear Baby Bliss,
Mommy was watching a movie last night and there were so many things that made her think of you. She wants to be a good mommy and wants to you have the best of life. There are so many things that could happen to you, but she will do her best to protect you. She wants to be sure to balance that protection with freedom for you to realize your own gifts and talents and to explore this great world. Mommy knows that you will make lots of mistakes, just like she did, but she also knows that you will learn great lessons from them. Just stay true to your authentic self. Mommy and Daddy are starting to build our dreams for you, but we know that our dreams will be shaped by the person that you are. We are looking forward to finding out who this little person is that is growing!

cry baby
R and I went to church this morning. There were 3 separate times that I teared up. My hormones are most certainly out of wack.
1. a women was holding a newborn. Nothing exciting just the site of a new baby.
2. a man was holding a newborn. Totally pictured R with our baby in church.
3. the pastor was at the baptismal font with the kids in the congregation. Thought of little baby bliss' own baptism.
ugg..these hormones sure are fun!

First pictures
We finally got to meet with the midwife for our first appt. It went really well. It was a long appt. We got there at 7:30 and didn't leave until a little after 11. Long morning for someone whose mornings aren't great. There was just so much to talk about, do and eventually see that it was certainly worth it. The midwife was great and was really open to a lot of our ideas for the birth. She was very personable and I think we will be happy. We have joined a new program called "Centering Pregnancy" This is a new program where the midwives (5 of them) meet with a group of 8-12 women and spouses. We meet as a group once per month. Apparently you form some great bonds with those who are due at the same time that you are. I think it will be a great option. Well, on to the fun part. We tried to skip the ultrasound and just do a doppler heartbeat. Well, I am a little early for it and my uterus is tipped towards my back, so it just couldn't penetrate to the baby. We opted for the ultrasound. I just really wanted a piece of mind that all was good with the heartbeat. Well, we didn't even have to see the heart to know all was good. Our first picture had the baby doing a little dance for us on the screen. It was so amazing to see the little arms and legs moving around. We did see the heart beating as well. It looked like a real heart, just upside down becuase of the baby's position. I have to say this was a great experience for R and I to meet our little one. Well, enjoy the first pictures!

Magic Throne 2
Thought I would give you a little update on the Magic Throne. So far I have made a visit most every day since week 7. That is almost 3 weeks of puking every morning (except weekends...go figure) I think the weekend thing is due to sleeping in. It seems to help when I lie in bed for an hour or so before getting up, too bad I can't do that every morning! That would be a tough one to explain at work. This last week has been a little rough. I think I am just tired of puking and looking forward to life after the throne.
I am eating more, which is good. I still haven't put on any weight, but you can tell from the pictures, that the baby is growing despite my poor appetite. Tonight R declared a "date night" We had a nice dinner and dessert out. Funny that I can still eat desserts. Baby likes sugar!
I did my first maternity clothes shopping this week. My sister took me on a little shopping trip. She bought me the cutest sweater, although we both agreed that summer maternity clothes are pretty cute as well. It is really funny trying on clothes that don't fit you. They have this attachable "bump" in the dressing room for you to get an idea. It is this really lumpy pillow with velcro. It gives you an idea, but a scary one! I also found some dress pants and a pair of jeans for really cheep. They are all too big for now, but soon I will need them.
Well it is getting close to bedtime (7:30pm!) better start getting ready! ;)

1st Dr.'s visit
Ok, so my 1st appt isn't until Sept 21. This is fine, because I am healthy and I assume the baby is. But, I have to wonder what would happen if I were a crack smokin', beer drinkin', pot smoker? Would I still wait until I was almost 11 wks to recieve some valuable education? What if I didn't search endlessly online for how to take care of myself and baby? What if I thought I was pregnant but had no symptoms? Would I still be waiting? I am just concerned for all the other non-informed moms out there. This first 12wks is crucial given that all their little systems are forming. A little preventative care folks... ok, that is all the soap box I have left in me.

30?
Yay! I am 30! I really didn't like 25, but 30 isn't too bad. I went home for the weekend. Had a nice visit with my sister's family, Grandma and mom and dad. Always good to go home. I let mom begin to share the news with friends. She picked church to announce it to the whole congregation. (Granted there are only 15 people that regularly worship, 22 for Sunday including a few visitors)
Mom and dad took me out for a birthday dinner. I have zero appetite so this included 2 dinner rolls, a shirly temple and chocolate cake. Amazing that baby doesn't like any food right now, but chocolate seems to be the favorite still.
I was actually not sick most of the weekend. I would certainly attribute this to low stress, lots of sleep and some good old fashion family love. Unfortunately this wasn't true on the last day that we had to drive home. I was sick from noon-10pm. Threw up at lunch (pb&j and pickles is not a good combination!) and then in the gas station and a couple times when I got home until I feel asleep. Ryan ended up on the bathroom floor with me surrounded by water, ginger ale, kleenex and the cat. What a guy!
My sister gave me some childbirth books. I realized that I am not ready to see those yet. The thought of it coming out is not the first priority for me right now. It is just getting back some strength and feeling better. I have lost 9lbs so far, so hope that I am on the tail end of this.
I have to say though that 30 is looking pretty good so far, so much to look forward to this year!

home sweet home
I am going home for my birthday this weekend. I could not be more excited. I have only talked to family on the phone but I am sure looking forward to seeing them. I have had a few tough weeks with work and morning sickness so a little mom and dad time will be nice. I will also have the opportunity to see my Grandma. It has been a while and I am excited to talk about the baby. Should be a good time.
We (2 friends and I) have our big birthday bash coming up next weekend. I am looking forward to it, but I am so worried I'll be sick or tired or both. We are planning to share the news with the rest of our friends that day so that will be fun.
Puke update: still doing it, every morning, ugg, yuck.
Dr.'s update: Switching to a midwife (at the hospital) but now I have to wait to meet with someone an extra couple weeks. My first appt has been moved to September 21. I know there isn't a lot that happens that first visit, but there is just something about a piece of mind. The good news is that I will be almost 11 weeks so I am hoping to hear the heartbeat. That will be really cool and make this so real. (not that the puking hasn't made this impression!)
Still deciding on when to tell work. I am pretty sure I want to wait until that 12wk mark. I just wish I could explain why I feel like such crap and look out of it most of the time. With all that is going on though, it isn't that big of a deal to wait.
I still keep looking for a bump. This is also very exciting to me. I know I will be anxious to see a semi-small stomach again, but there is something about seeing that first baby bump. I think there is one, but I have yet to convince R. Hope to have another picture up soon so you can all remind me that I am crazy and that nothing has changed.
So, appetite. This sucks. I miss food. I start eating and then get too sick to continue. R is tired of eating off my scraps. He'll probably gain baby weight before I will. I have actually lots a few pounds. Also when we eat out it isn't terribly cost effective to get me a meal that I take two bites of. I'm sure I'll have plenty of time to make up for the lack of eating now. But I miss food.
Well off for a walk, at least I am trying to be healthy. Last night ended up hugging the throne after our walk, wish me luck tonight!

Tuesday
Ok, I have nothing really new today, just some random updates. I thought I was a lucky pg girl when I went all day without throwing up yesterday. nope, just a fluke. Remember that fun post when I talked about being an "expert" HA! yeah right. Now I am searching for other solutions. After realizing that I will puke no matter what in the am I have started to control what I will puke. Tea is the best so far. Much easier than whole foods. I just wait until I puke and then I have breakfast. I am really thankful that this is just happening before work. I don't know what I would do if it happened at work in a public stall.
Mom asked me if I had a bump today. I think I do, but Ryan can't really tell the difference. I just feel like I can't suck it in anymore and my belly is a little more firm. I'm sure I'll live for the day when I am thin again, so I should enjoy this for now.
She also had a name idea again. I really should start keeping track of all her ideas. Today she thought of Whitney. mmm..not sure about that one.
Miss Cleo (our cat) gave us a scare tonight. She somehow managed to get herself wedged between the furnace and the wall in between 2 studs. What an idiot! Ryan ended up putting some t-shirts under her and got her up high enough that he could grab her. It gave me a mighty big scare. All I need is a dead cat right now.
My birthday is coming up this weekend. I was a little worried about turning 30, but I think I am actually excited. After all, birthdays are fun. I also feel satisfied with my 20's. I think I have actually done what I have wanted up to this point, so it can only get better right?
I warned you that this would be random. well, that's all for now!

Shouting from the mountain tops
Ok, so all the siblings have been contacted about the upcoming addition. This will make number 9 for grandkids on my side and number 1 for R's side. I am really getting anxious to let the rest of the world know. I feel like I have this big secret that I am just waiting to shout from the mountain tops. It has been hard keeping it to ourselves in only the 3 short weeks that we have known. I am thinking that the weekend of September 8th will be a great time to let the rest of the world in on this great little secret. I plan to announce it that day at my 30th birthday party. So for those also bursting to tell the news, that would be an ok time for you to share as well. I will be 9wks along at that point and getting closer to that magic 12wk safe zone. Besides, what a great gift for my birthday!

Pregnancy Brain
So I have heard that you tend to forget things when you are pg. Something about all the blood from your brain going to the baby. Well, I have to say that it is most certainly true. On Monday I laid out some papers to take to work. I even put other things like my cell phone on top of them. Didn't realize that I didn't have them until half way to work that day.
Today was the worst. I did my hair and makeup (something I should be glad I have time to do before baby) got some snacks ready for work (grapes, saltines and tea) and then went down to put my shoes on. As I was slipping into my heals I realized that I still had my pajamas on. Don't ask me how I got that far without realizing this. It was like one of those first day of school dreams where you get to your locker and realize you are naked. I'm just thankful I caught this in time. It could have been a tough day explaining my sanity to my staff.
On another note, I had a fun visit with the magic throne today. The morning sickness is not worse, just more intense. Let's just say that Kix's do turn blue when eaten with blueberries. I did learn that I am glad I have the option to take off my glasses. I honestly would hate to have 20/20 vision and have to see it all.
I'll sign off now that the rest of you are having trouble keeping your own cookies down. Off to nurse my ginger ale!

The Man
Ok,R is really getting a hang of "the husband of a pg woman" thing. Tonight he got home after an evening of poker. (feeling guilty for leaving me I am sure) As soon as he got in the door I shared my need for chocolate milk. I have had this need for a couple days now. Finally thought I would share. He is such a good guy that he went out in the rain to satisfy my craving. He did make one tiny mistake, he asked if I wanted anything else. I had a short but specific list.
1. Chocolate milk
2. Welches Sparkling White Grape juice
3. Ginger Ale
4. Ice cream (in case I felt like a chocolate milk shake)
5. Saltines
6. Lemonade
He said that with a list like that the checkout girl is going to think he sure is thirsty. I told him that he should just scan his "I have a PG wife at home" card. This would be a great thing to create for him...mmm that gives me an idea?!?

6 weeks
I am now at 6 weeks. WOW! only 34 to go. Seems like forever but I'm sure it will go fast. Here is today's updates. I still hate cologne and really most scents. Went to a party last night and they had a plug in air freshner along with brats and chilli. Oh it was a PG woman's dream! I tried to think of anything but the smells. I even tried smelling the water I was drinking for some relief. Finally we headed home and I was very close to making R pull over. He continues to make fun of me (and feel a little sorry for me) whenever my bloodhound senses go off. I think PG women should be hired on by the FBI to help track people. At least this symptom could be put to good use.
We went out on a nice date this evening. Figured we better get these in before baby comes along. Could be a while before we actually enjoy a movie. My bloodhound senses were on again tonight though which made the movie a little uncomfortable. I figure that I need to carry something good smelling with me when I go out. That way I can just pull it out and smell that instead of whatever else is around me. Sounds like a good idea no?
I did break down today. Shopping that is. I made a little trip to Goodwill (my therapy) and found the cutest little onesie. It was only a couple bucks so I figured why not? It was yellow with a little lamb on it. Baby will probably only wear it for a day or so, but too cute anyway. I also picked up some maternity dress pants. For $5 who cares if they don't work. I need something to wear to work.
I thought I would put up another belly pic. Not much has changed, but thought I would at least have something for the record.

Well, I am off to bed (after an hour nap today) at 9pm. I am really settling it to this sleeping all the time thing. Good night!

sleepy time
Boy did I get sleepy today. I came home from work and just crashed. Then I got up and got tears in my eyes for no reason. Think I am pregnant? ;) Must be from that little embryo getting a growth spurt today. Well after my nap, I spent my time wisely. Here is the result of my time...
Some adorable nursery ideas. Yes, it is much to soon to think about it, but still fun! Let me know what you like best!

The name game
So I found a great name last night. It even means "pure" and my name means "pure one". Cool right? Well I was excited to find something I actually liked and then R decides to make a joke using the name. Ugg. I hit him with a pillow for ruining the name like that. Of course it is good to think of all the possibilities for harrassment that little bliss may experience in middle school, but not when I am excited about the name! Well, he is forgiven and I still like the name! R-0 C-1

Telling the in-laws
ok, so we broke the news to R's family. It was really fun to share. The worst was waiting for my ever patient husband to actually share the news. I had to wait an excruciating 4 hours for him to finally get a break in the discussion to share it with others. Although I have to say his grandma had the best response with "well whoop de de" Of course it was said with all the excitement that an 89 yr old from South Dakota can possibly muster. Everyone was very happy with news. Grandma is even looking forward to more parties! Now that we have close friends and families out of the way we will just have to wait the long few more weeks until we can tell the rest of the world. I don't totally understand this waiting thing. I mean if something were to happen, then you would certainly need the support of others around you? right? I figured that I would tell those whom I would need support from and not tell those whom I would hate to "un-tell" Seems like a good cut off. My first Dr.'s appt is Sept 10, so that seems like a good mark to begin sharing the news. I'll be 8wks at that point and hopefully past some of the more scary early weeks. I have been feeling better this week but now my sickies have move to afternoon, along with an overwhelming tired feeling. Ugg. I am now 5wks along and the little pea will soon be an embryo!

Expert already
So I feel like an expert already. 5 days should make me one right? I have mastered morning sickness! Food is apparently the answer to all. Eat all day and you should be good. After a couple suggestions, food on my nightstand is the answer to the first wake up sickies. Just eat in bed the first 1/2 hour and then I am good. huh? who knew? All these years I was taught not to eat in bed, but low and behold, it works!

Hugging the magic throne
So I had my first experience with the magic throne today. I do recommend choosing one throne to do your business in and one for the pg ladies. Keep them separate in the house and you will avoid any unwanted oders or floaties. It just isn't a good idea to have both uses for one throne. I have also learned to keep the throne clean at all times for any possible trips.

Baby Bliss begins
So, I have now entered the Blog world. What fun! I thought I may use this opportunity to update all on the great journey that pregnancy will bring. Here is a recap of the journey so far...
July 25 Felt sick in the evening
July 26 Really sick feeling with breakfast and dinner
July 28 Noticed my pits were kinda stinky (sorry TMI) by pm but hadn't felt sick since July 26h. Also fell asleep in the middle of the day and slept really hard. Not usual for me.
July 30 Hot flashes started and got kinda sick again
Aug 3 Nothing all week, little shoots in my boobs but nothing much. Little Friend due today. Got sick at lunch time. Tested at around 5pm. Barely a positive. Not enough that R and I felt it was positive. Went camping with friends. Got really sick feeling all evening.
Aug 4 Sick most of the day until evening. Slept all afternoon. Then nothing.
Aug 5 Woke up feeling fine and could even eat breakfast ok. A couple hours later...ugg sick again. 11:00 tested with a digital. Test said 3min, after 1 min PREGNANT.
Aug 6 One more test (just cause the pack had 2!) Big surprise...PREGNANT!
Now what?
Well I have a few thoughts on the pregnancy thing...
1. What the heck was Eve thinking when she ate that apple? Did she not know what she was doing to all the rest of us for centuries to come?
2. Apparently family wishes the best for you, that is why we are now subject to oodles of name ideas. Don't they realize that we have that worked out already? What else do we need besides Guy and Shaniqua?
3. Husbands are cute after all. R decided that Baby Bliss needed a little education on fantasy football last night. I had to gently remind him that our little zygote doesn't have ears yet. He was bummed but is determined to try again in a couple weeks.
4. Guys still have the easy part. No hugging the big throne for them!
5. Work sucks.
6. Work sucks.
7. Jammies feel like a much better idea then work clothes when you feel like crap.
8. Work sucks.
9. I miss wine already. We had a little block party and I had to turn it down. It smelled good though.
10. People who wear perfume suck. They stink and make me sick.
