Bath time

I love bath time. It is great to see Patrick so happy and enjoying himself. It doesn't matter what mood he is in, when he sees that tub, only pure joy. He practically jumps out of my arms just to reach the tub. Once in, he splashes and tries to chew on his toys. He doesn't care a bit if the water gets in his eyes or on his face, he is just happy to be there. The only exception to this happiness is getting out. He is not a fan of that part. I remember bath time as a child myself. I hated taking one but once in, you couldn't pry me out. I would make bubbles and play pirate with my little boat. It was the best!

Here is the evidence of Patricks bathtime joy.

Welcome to the world Tayla Jaymes! We are so excited you are here and your mommy is doing well. Hugs and kisses from us all. Patrick is anxious to play! Check out pictures here:

Heaven, here we come

ok, I really shouldn't say anything but....

Patrick slept 6ish hours straight last night!!!

I'm sure this fluke will end, but I'll take what I can get.

The clouds parted and we saw heaven...

ok, maybe not that dramatic, but Mr. P slept from 11-6 and only woke up at 3:30. This is a huge thing for us. I haven't had that much sleep since July. I only hope this is a trend and not a fluke!

I suppose I am ruining it, just writing about it...

oh well, just wanted to shout it from the mountain tops.

Cobber Baby

Patrick decided to sport his Cobber gear from mommy and daddy's alum Concordia. I love the faces he made!

Patrick has been really learning a lot of new tricks lately. He appeared to be so mobile this weekend and I only caught half of it on video. He was also attempting to pull himself up on objects and starting to scoot forward instead of back. Enjoy these videos of him. The first is a new trick he did just as I was filming.

the second is Patrick being all boy!

6 month Stats

Update:
ok, I had this all wrong yesterday... here is the corrected copy:

We had Mr. P's 6 mo appt yesterday. Here are the stats:

Height: 25.1 inches 10th percentile
Weight: 17lbs 2ozs 40th percentile
Head Cir: 95th percentile

4 months:
Height: 24in 36th percentile
Weight: 14lbs 14oz 56th percentile
Head Cir: 75th percentile

So once again, he is short, average and smart. On a serious note they do want to see us again in a month to check his stats due to his head cir. It is typically nothing, but because he has jumped up a mark our Dr. just wants to keep an eye on it.

Interestingly enough, he wasn't as worried that he went from 30th to 10th in height.

Could it be his Loftessness genes? Certainly not a Balliett trait!

It must be fall

Mom and dad are leaving today after an almost month long stay with Patrick. I had to get an updated photo of the three of them. Patrick loves his time with Nana and GB. He has learned how to growl from his GB.

And his face lights up whenever Nana enters the room. It is really fun to see them interact with each other.

Grandma and Grandpa Bliss bought this cute pumpkin outfit for Patrick and the colors were just right in our backyard for a few pictures. Add some real pumpkins and you have yourself some fun pictures!

Ok, we needed a cute one in the studio too!

I love little boys in little hats. Unfortunately my baby looks like a little boy in this picture, but it was too cute to pass up the photo opportunity!

Some more fall fun...

6 months

Happy Birthday my baby boy! 1/2 a year? What other reason do we need to eat cake?

Here are some highlights of the past month

Patrick has started eating a little food, although you will see in the below picture and video, that he isn't having any of it this past week. Last week he loved it, this week, not so much. Guess we'll wait a little and try again.

Patrick has just started sitting up and catching himself better before he falls. I still like to keep a hand or pillow behind him to catch him, but he can now sit and play for up to 15min or so. I think he really enjoys life off of his tummy/back. As he is seen flapping his arms in excitement most of the time when he is sitting.

Patrick has become much more mobile. I predict he may be in a full crawl by my next monthly update. As you can see in the video, he has gotten up on his hand and knees and rocked a bit. He also pivits around to get where he wants to go. A couple of times he has rolled to get somewhere, but that doesn't happen often.

Patrick thinks sleep is for babies, at least babies younger than him. It seems like ever since I have gone back to work, his sleep continues to get worse. Last night I saw just about every hour on the clock. This makes for a long day for me. He is also not doing the greatest sleeping during the day. He just seems very aware of things around him and startles awake when you sneeze or try to put him down. Nana loves the holding time and I do as well in the evenings (he likes to nap, once I am home for a couple hours!) but it also means that the house is pit and I don't get much else done. Oh well, I guess he will only let me hold him for so long. Before I know it, he'll be off and running.

Patrick has been very interested in the sounds that his mouth makes. He loves to spit and tries that out whenever he can. If he isn't chewing on his thumb, or fingers, he is spitting. He is also trying out his voice. Sometimes he'll just hum and sometimes he'll practice other sounds like baba, gaga etc.

Halloween

ok, it is poll time folks. I need comments from all the new/experienced moms out there.

What do you do with a baby for Halloween?? Everyone is talking about Halloween. What costume, all the cute pictures, etc?

Most people know this, but I am not a huge Halloween fan. I grew up in the country. On the farm there wasn't much to do for the holiday. We would go to Grandma's and take 1/2 her bag of Milky Way's. Then on to Aunt Evelyns for adult sized candy bars and that was about it. Typically the costume would be made that day and it wasn't much more than a rug thrown on my back to call me a sheep. Pathetic, I know.

So, now I have a son. His Grandma found a costume for him, so we at least have that. But now what? Do we go trick or treating for cereal, breastmilk and some pureed sweet potatoes? Most certainly you will see a picture of our little pumpkin in his costume, but past that? I think I need to find other babies to hang with. Anyone want to have a costume party for the babies? Sounds better than trick or treating for breastmilk! ;)

Enjoy your little pumpkin this month!

Rockin'

I need to capture this on video, but Patrick has begun rocking. He'll get up on his knees and hands and rock forward. Sometimes he'll get up enough momentum and then launch himself forward. Typically this results in hitting his face on the ground. He doesn't seem to mind though and gets up to try it over again. Patrick is also getting good and moving himself around. He'll either roll, scoot and pivit in a circle to get where he wants to go. So fun to witness all these milestones!

Enough with the cute pictures already

Patrick needs a chance to grow up in a place where he doesn't have to worry about finding a job because the economy sucks.

Patrick needs a chance to grow up in a place that supports the rights for his uncle to visit his partner in a hospital.

Patrick needs a chance to grow up in a place where his cousin and best friend can look and see a president that looks more like him.

Patrick needs a chance to grow up in a place where his uncle can have a chance to live in America, instead of half way accross the world becuase we are too scared to have "foreigners" take our jobs.

Patrick needs a chance to get to know his Nana and GB, because they have health care that will keep them around a little longer.

Patrick needs a chance to breath clean air and have his kids breath clean air.

Patrick needs a chance to get to know his aunt before she has to see her husband leave to go fight in another war.

Patrick needs a chance to have a president that he can look up to and be proud of, enough to say that he is an American and he lives in a great country.

Vote...

Fall fun

I was able to get out the other day and take some fall pictures of Patrick. It is amazing how he has changed in just a couple of weeks. I did these before the last that I posted and I remember needed to hold on to him so he didn't topple over. Now he is sitting like a champ. Patrick really enjoys feeling and touching the leaves and grass. He also likes to eat it too if he is able!

Don't you just love that little spot of drool? (ok, maybe one of those things that only a mother could love!)

The close ups are so fun for me, I really enjoy seeing his little chubby fingers working to grasp the leaves

*yes, I've been playing with my photos lately. I love this look for fall!

Ryan had to shave today...

Ryan headed back to work this morning. :( I'm sure he is excited to talk with some actual adults, but of course I am going to miss my lunch dates with my boys. Ryan brought him down every day this week so that I could cuddle with him. I really enjoy that mid-day time.

Mom and Dad will be here most of October to care part time for Patrick. The other time, he will go to our neighbor/friend Emily's house. I'm sure he'll do great with the transition.

I am so thankful for the 6 months he has been with us. We may be broke, but the time is priceless. (yikes, I sound like a cheesy commercial!) It is true though that we have really enjoyed our time watching him grow.

Here are a couple more photos from the other night that just make me smile. Hope they put a smile on your face as well.
