Thanksgiving hightlights

"MOM!! DAD STUCK ME IN THE TOY BOX AGAIN!!!"

Patrick enjoyed some firsts for Thanksgiving this year.

First Turkey (ok just kidding, he didn't eat that!)
First mash potatoes (yeah he had a bite)
First second tooth (can I count that as a first??)
First hand/toe stand (you'll have to see the video for that one!)

Here is some video evidence

Patrick also enjoyed a fun game of Horsey with Aunt Allison. He can't help but laugh whenever she is around.

We enjoyed Thanksgiving on Wednesday night this year so we could celebrate with the Blazings (who were at their dad's for the actual day). We had a great feast cooked by mom and then a fun game of night football afterward to run it off. Girls against guys. I think we held our own just fine given we were even a player short.

On actual Turkey day we just hung low. Mom and Dad came over and we ate some leftovers from lunch. Then they went on a walk with Patrick and I made some peanut butter fudge. This is the same fudge that I made the night Patrick was born. I think mom was afraid to eat it thinking she may be up all night with her daughter in labor again!

How many people does it take to get one very bundled up baby out for a walk??

After fudge we got out the Christmas tree. Patrick enjoyed helping trying to pull the tree down.

It is so fun to think about sharing our first Christmas together as a family of 3!

Sleep

It seems like sleep is typically a hot topic among most new parents. Here is our version the last week or so. Last week, Patrick was very clingy and woke up crying almost 6 times each night. Most certainly that pesky second tooth along with congestion from a cold. The last two days have been very different. He has only taken 1-2 hour naps during the day and then fallen asleep for most of the evening. Last night he only slept 30min or so and then didn't got to bed until almost 10:30. Ugg. late for a sleepy mommy. The good news is that he has only woken 1-2 times and those are fairly quick. He has also slept hard, which means that I have slept hard. I could barely get up this morning as it was one of the few times I was so out of it that I even had a dream! Let's hope this long sleepy night thing lasts. Happy travels to all for Turkey day. We are staying home this year and sleeping a lot!

Dada

ok, I'll play along

Anne
tagged me. Now I have to post the 4th photo in the 4th folder on my computer. Here goes folks. I love this one actually, so I'm happy to share!

Talkin'

Patrick has been "talking" a blue streak lately. He seems to be having full conversations and signing full songs. Dada is his favorite "word". He also uses mama, gaga and baba a lot.

I love seeing his new tooth so clearly now. He is also working on another one and that one is really keeping mom and dad up at night.

Green shirt

ok, I didn't have better title. Just enjoy the pictures!

cranky baby

Patrick has been a little cranky these last few days. It started with a bit of a cough and waking every hour on Monday night. Now he is sleeping better but just clingy and whiney. We think he is cutting another tooth, but this one seems tough. Poor guy. We are looking forward to seeing our smilely happy baby again. The cough has gotten worse too, so hopefully that has peaked and he is on the mend.

On an up note, Patrick woke last night and couldn't get back to sleep around 9pm. So we just brought him in our bed and laid down next to him. He was like a little old man tossing and turning until he fell asleep. The good news is that he didn't need to nurse in order to fall asleep. At one point he rolled over onto Ryan's pillow and looked like he would just sleep there, it was so cute. All that tossing and turning made him really act old and not like the sleepy nursing baby I am used to. Must be a 7 month thing.

7 months!

7 Month highlights
17lbs 10oz

On the move
Holy buckets is this kid moving. He went from rocking on his hands and knees this month to a slow army crawl to a now very efficient army crawl. So efficent in fact that he is now after anything that isn't a toy. Curtains, cords, Ryan's dead plant (thanks to kitty and now Patrick), the fireplace, the cable box, cat food, dust bunnies and anything that looks interesting. He also like to stand as often as possible and has figured out that if he crawls to mom or dad and whimpers, we'll stand him up. He has even stood on his own for a couple of seconds. Did I mention that we are really not ready for this yet? Ready or not, here he comes!

Smiles
Patrick has a new smile now. It includes one very cute little tooth that sprouted this month. It also comes with the funniest giggles. These giggles don't even need prompting from mom, dad or Aunt Allison turning him upside down. Sometimes we'll leave the room and hear this funny little giggle just to turn around and see that one-tooth grin and hear another giggle. It is the best!

Messy food
I'm not a big fan of sticky, icky things. I don't mind dust bunnies and all out dirt, but sticky food on a sticky face with icky fingers I do not like. Patrick has finally figured out food. He tried last month, but just wasn't real interested. Now he sticks his little toothed mouth out for more. On the menu? Carrots, sweet potatoes, cereal, pears, applesauce and his newest just the past couple of days... Cheerios. He is working on his pincer grasp although he doesn't get it quite yet. He mostly gets lucky with a fist full of cheerios towards his mouth. This morning he even tried drinking water from a sippy cup. He gets that their is something in there that he wants and he can hold it, but holding and drinking are still tough for him.

Diapers, clothes and gettin' naked
Patrick isn't a big fan of clothes being put on or coming off. He does still love being naked though! He is such a rolly polly on the changing table. I've pretty much given up and just change him on the floor now. He is wearing some 12mo clothes but mostly still 6-9mo. He is a funny kid, he'll wear 6-9mo pants and 12mo tops. Built just like Ryan and I.

Well, sorry so late on this updated post. Better late then never!

Wednesday Faces

Ok, I am still trying to get through our prof pics to find some for our Christmas card.

These ones didn't make the cut but still crack me up. They could be such pretty pictures, but then I get a boy who does this with his face. Oh my...

and this... although I am coming to love this little face!

Ouch!

Patrick,

Mommy is not a teether, chew toy, sock or anything that requires you to bite down with your new little sharp tooth.

thanks.

1st Tooth

Here is the first picture evidence of Patrick's first tooth! He is hanging upside down if you are wondering why the picture is upside down.
and a closer look...

You can also see his nasty eczema on his arm.

Sneak Preview

We had our Christmas photos taken last weekend by Erin Dunn at Fine Exposures. It was fun to see how another photographer worked. I am fortunate to know a number of great photographers in town! It was a great learning experience and to finally have some pictures of our family together was really great as well. I'll save the best for our Christmas card, but here is a a shot of just Patrick from the day.

Trip to the Dr.

Patrick made a little trip to the Dr. with daddy today. He has had a nasty looking rash on his arm that just wasn't getting better. Turns out that we have a case of eczema. So some over the counter cream should help. While there, they measured his head again. As reported by Ryan.."our son is dumb again". Apparently his head is only in the 75% now. go figure. I think they really need to have a better way to measure heads. I have heard from so many parents that their babies jumped or dropped notches. oh well, I wasn't worried about it, just think it is crazy that they can't get it right!

Update:
Got more news on this. apparently he was measured for height again as well and went from 10% to 36%... someone really needs to double check how they are measureing babies!! Guess he isn't as short as projected.

Our new President of the U.S.A.- OBAMA!

What an incredible night! I am so proud of our country and our new president. I am so excited that Patrick will have this opportunity in the begining of his life. So amazing.

Patrick sported his "babies for obama" shirt for the election party that we went to this evening.

Here is the whole family sporting their "obama" gear at the party.

Allison and kids joined us as well.

The second best part of the night is that Patrick graced us with a full nights sleep!! He went to bed late about 9:30 then woke briefly so that he could hear Obama's speech, then back to sleep until 6am!!! We were up around 5 just to check on him and make sure he was still breathing. Such a gift after staying up way to late. So our new bedtime routine will now include a party with friends, staying up late and falling asleep to Obama, President-elect OBAMA!!!

I VOTED!

If I haven't said it already...

GO VOTE!

oh, and if you are confused on who to vote for? pick the guy with the funny name.

A number of firsts

Ok, did you figure out the hints?

Here is the first evidence of "GI Patrick"

Yes, that is right, our little boy has begun to Army Crawl this past week, although just looking at the video you can see that the real crawl isn't far away. Yikes! Any guesses on how much cat food he may eat in the coming months??

And it is now official. Patrick has a tooth! You read right, a little sharp white tooth has sprouted it's way up. We asked his Dr. a couple weeks ago what we should be looking for as far as teething was concerned. Being the smart a$$ Dr. that he is, he replied "look for little white things" Gotta love a Dr. with humor.

As soon as I can capture a real picture of the thing, I'll be sure to post it!

Laughing in a box

Having a bad day? Just hit play for a good laugh!

yes, you saw right, that is a nummy bowl of chocolate ice cream in the background!

Trick or Treat!

Patrick, Ryan and I enjoyed our first Halloween together. We handed out a little candy, took some fun pictures and enjoyed time with some other little cuties that we know.

Posin' for the camera.

Sliding around on the floor with Cleo (who was too cool to dress up this year!)

Hanging with mama.

Enjoying all the other little costumed cuties
Left to right:
Kim, Kina, Nora, Patrick, Emmerson, Miles and Sophia. Now that they are more mobile a group picture is much tougher!
