Fun at the game

Patrick and I went to watch Ryan's softball game last night. P was such a gem and just hung out on my lap most of the time.

He did certainly notice his dad playing though and called out "DADA" on many occasions.

He is really trying to talk a lot lately. This morning I could have sworn he began singing the theme song to "Three's Company"

Funny kid, so much fun to be around!

Reading a book

We have been attempting to read books to Patrick. Up to this point, he hasn't been very interested. He just hasn't had the patience to sit for a while. We usually read while he runs around the house

Well, we have apparently been going at this all wrong.

This is the proper way to read a book!

14.5 months

I figured this video would be a great way to start off with on a Monday!

Patrick is demonstrating a whole bunch of new tricks. Saying Uh-Oh, "talking", signing all-done, clapping and just being silly!

This face

This face is what turns rainy days into sunny ones
This face is what rises me from a warm bed on a cold day
This face is what brings me great joy on even the worst of days

I am so proud to call this face my son!

My little man with many faces

Patrick has the best expressions. He can go from laughing to screaming on the floor in 2.2 seconds. Typically when we are with others he won't show them this screaming side, but will flash just about everyone the cutest little shy smile. So a little explanation on the clapping. Patick only claps when Patrick wants to clap. This doesn't seem to be prompted by anything or in response to anything that we do, he'll just break out into a spontaneous clap. Strange.

His expressions do make for some really fun photos.

Ahh.. my sweet, sweet boy. Such a character but so loved!

For the love of kitty

I know I have written before how these two get along, but they do really have a cute relationship and surprisingly she hasn't drawn any blood from his arm yet!

Cooling off

Its been really hot around here lately. Like really hot, opressively hot according to the weather guys.

Patrick and thought a hose might help to cool off. He is hooked!

Playing at the park

Here are a few more shots of our day in the park.

So I have been thinking lately of my photo issues.

You know the issue about having too many photos of Patrick.

What happens if we have another child? Will the photo taking have a half life? I have only a handful of pictures of myself as the last child of 6.

Can you just imagine what his graduation will look like? You know those photo boards that people put up? I may have to dedicate the garage to photos and make everyone eat outside instead.

oh well, I'll deal with that later. For now, I'll enjoy every picture!

The Ladies Man

We had fun at an impromptu pool party last night. Patrick was the lone boy out of the crew of 8. With the heat being an opressive 90 some degrees we all needed some cooling off. He wasn't terribly interested in the pools, but found a baby stroller that he could push around and was happy as a clam. This kid is just drawn to anything that he can push. He other favorite "toys" for the night were a stick under the deck and a dog leash. Funny kid. Finally towards the end of the evening he discovered the slide and had a great time with that. Even more fun when it is wet!
Thanks to Jennifer G. for the picture!

The bunny

So I have been attempting to take a 14month picture with the bunny. This is not an easy task anymore. Not sure if the bunny picture is going to happen anymore.
Any ideas for a busy toddler?
This is the best we can do.

At the park with dad

After a long day of mowing, cleaning and working in the hot sun, we were all ready for some fun!

We enjoyed a local park nearby after a dinner.

Of course after the park trip, we needed to make a stop at DQ.

Patrick was so tired by the time we got home that he just crashed.

Thank you DAD!

Thank you for rides on your shoulders.
Thank you for making me laugh.
Thank you for showing me how to use my mower.
Thank you for being silly with me.
Thank you for singing me to sleep.
Thank you for pancakes.

Thank you for being my DAD!

love, Patrick

Cute Babe

ok, if you think this is one of those cute baby posts, you have another thing coming. This is a post about my other cute babe. The big, strapping, hot, adorable, working in the rain one.

There is just something about a guy working. Add in some soaking wet clothes and a nail gun, and whew, I am done for.

ok, I'll throw this one in for my sister as well. I like the first 2 better, but whatever.

Roofing

Ryan has made me promise that we will have no more major projects this year.

Jay, Peder, Ezra and my dad were all on hand to help.

P enjoyed all the action though and especially some extra time with GB. He even started saying "GB" this weekend.

They've done a great job so far.

I am super tired from cooking and cleaning up along with taking care of P full time. How did the pioneer women do it all? I'm just not cut out for that.

After 3 13hour days spent on our roof, Ryan and the boys are very tired, and we aren't done yet.

Ryan is also looking forward to sitting at his desk after all this hard labor.

14 months

Sorry, this is a little late but I best write some things down before I forget!
It feels like not much has changed in a month, but at the same time that he is changing everyday. I can't totally put it into words, but he is really understanding so much more now.

Eating:
Patrick is a good eater. He eats most everything we put in front of him, but clearly has his favorites.
Mac and Cheese
Noodles
Grilled Cheese
Pancakes
Waffles
He now has a fork or spoon in his hand the entire time he is eating. He doesn't quite understand how to use it yet, but definately tries. He stabs at his food with the fork and tries to scoop things up with his spoon. At Tiffany's he sits at a table and eats with a plate, at home he takes that same plate and turns it upside down on his tray. We have eaten outdoors for some meals at his picnic table and he does better there with a plate or bowl.

Sleeping:
This is a constant evolution. He is still waking 2-4x's per night to nurse. He does have a lot more times though of falling back to sleep without nursing which is encouraging. He typically comes into our bed after waking the 1st time and spends the rest of the night there. Going to sleep is easier. We typically rock him to sleep and then place him in his crib. There are times though that he has needed to put himself to sleep in the crib. Those nights we let him cry 10-15min to see if he can put himself down, if not we try to rock him again. He is still trying to switch between 1 and 2 naps a day. Typically it is just one 1.5 hour nap on the weekends. During the week he will now sleep on a cot by himself. I think Tiffany gives him something special at her house for how easy he is there.

Playing:
Patrick loves anything he can push. His favorite lately is a toy lawn mower. He'll push that thing around all day if we let him. If we are out and about he just scopes out the place for something new to push. He isn't really into toys much. He likes a little magnet toy we have and will dance when it sings. Other favorites are still pots and pans. Patrick is starting to really play with his friends. He is such a sweet boy when he interacts with other kids. If they want a toy of his, he is usually disappointed but then finds something else to entertain him. He doesn't seem to want what others have very often. He really does have a sweet demeanor but can have his feeling hurt easily.

New Tricks:
Patrick is getting really good at running now and very steady on his feet. He will still turn around to go down the stairs but if you are around he'll try it out the big kid way. Makes us nervous, but he is learning. Patrick likes to play peek a boo but will only play when he initiats it not when we do. That's his little independent spirit coming through. He has been "talking" more but we aren't always sure what it is that he means. Dada and Kitty are the only really clear words so far. He has started throwing more temper tantrums lately when we take him away from something he wants. He is getting good at throwing back his head and making a big show of it all. These can really wear on a parent after a long day. We are trying to take it all in stride though.

Well, sorry this is so late, but enjoy anyway!

Snack time and rainy day activities

Little Mr. P has taken to finding his own snack these days.

Yes,those are apple jacks. Hand over the parent of the year award please.

When it's raining outside, what do you do with a toddler?

Grab a bag of rice, some "tools", and old mirror,

A cute kid and

enjoy your box of rice!

Breakfast

Our family likes to eat a big breakfast on the weekends. Patrick especially loves the pancakes and Hello Kitty Waffles. He always wants to help. I let him mix up the eggs for us last weekend(no guarentee he didn't try to use his hands instead of the whisk).

Patrick has a bad habit of pulling on Ryan's chest hair. Who knew a bib could also double as a chest hair protector?

Patrick has been playing Peek-a-boo lately. He is funny though in that he always initiates it. He won't play if we try. So I finally caught him in the act on camera!
