Help a girl out!

Hey there contributors and others~ I am having trouble shooting with the sun out. I am typically on shoots alone, so don't have assistants to hold reflectors and such, besides, kids move to fast anyway. So is there something else I should be doing? A spot meter setting, ISO?, White balance? different subject placement? Thanks for the help! This photo is cute enough, but the harsh sun and dark face have me left stumped.


Here is my updated version. I tried to fix the blown out spots and lighten the dark ones along with a little boost. Still not thrilled with it though.

Blue light special

ok, not really the kmart kind, but when you have great light coming in from a window and a great wall that is a fantastic color blue, add in a cute baby and you have the blue light special. Much better than the kmart version!

Fun with the hose and a hat

Last weekend was the perfect opportunity for pictures. Since Patrick kept getting wet, or dirty or full of food, he also got to sport many outfits. Below is my favorite. Ryan would say just the opposite and calls these things "baby legwarmers" They are actually babylegs and great when the weather gets cool in the evening and baby needs a little extra cover up. They are super easy to change diapers in as well with a onesie.

As you can see, this boy is off and running lately. I hardly see his cute crawl anymore.

A garden hose makes for a great chew toy!

I love it when the sun is low in the sky. It makes for some awesome light!

Enjoying the sunny weather

We had such a great weekend enjoying the weather.

On Saturday, Patrick joined Allison and I for a little shopping trip. It was such a great day to be outside and Patrick was just a dream. He does so well sitting in his stroller but also in new places just taking everything in. The day away gave Ryan a chance to do some spring cleaning outside. He mowed, seeded, weeded, put things outside and did lots of work to get our place ready for summer.

Sunday, we spent as much time outdoors as possible. We all just wanted to soak in the rays after a long, dark winter.
