Little Artist

My baby (yes, he is my baby) drew his first picture yesterday. We were in the dr.'s office and to keep him from tearing down all the dr. type tools off the wall we gave him the clipboard and pen that the nurse left with us. He totally got it! I've tried before and he didn't get it. This time he did. It is the type of abstract art that only a mother could love. Funny, but the art also ended up on his tummy and mom and dad's hands.

Here is a photo of Patrick with his new watercolors!
*I also updated his 15month post with his new stats.

15 Months

This may be the first post in months where I am actually writing it on the correct day. Patrick turns 15 months old today! He is really a toddler and I see less and less baby every day. Since our fun bunny pictures are just about impossible to capture now, I thought I may try out a stool picture instead. Hope it will suffice.

What has Patrick been up to this month?

Weight: 22lbs 1oz 17%
Height: 30in 31%
Head: 86%

Talking: Here is a list of words that Patrick has begun to say.
Pickle (not really, but he says this all the time!)
Hi (15mo 07/13/09)
Bye-Bye (14mo 06/30/09)
Down (14mo)
Uh-Oh (14mo)
Up(14mo)
Kitty (9mo)
Mama (??)
Dada (??)
He is also a babbler. He'll say just about everything, but we have no idea what it is. Yesterday he continued to repeat pickle, pickle, pickle but there were no pickles in sight. Funny kid.

Walking/Running: Patrick is a running man now. Sometimes he goes so fast he is hard to catch. He loves to run especially into some anxious and waiting arms, but also just as often away from those same arms!

Eating: He still is getting everything down with his six little teeth. We hope others will soon be appearing. We'll have an update on his weight this week. He is really hit or miss when it comes to food. Some meals he'll gobble down and others he just picks at. He has gotten really good at signing "all done" though so we can understand him better. He has also started pointing which helps us narrow down what he wants.

Playing: Patrick is so fun to watch with other kids now. He is very friendly and plays really nicely with others. I don't see him stealing toys very often and when one is stolen from him he typically just gives me a little "what the heck?" look and then goes to find another toy. He has begun interacting with his friends a lot more, but still prefers to hang out on his own in a crowd. He really likes being around people. He is great around strangers and will go to folks willingly once he has had a chance to warm up. He still loves all things that move or that he can move, namely brooms, rakes, rods, sticks and other objects that he probably shouldn't have.

Sleeping: oh, it's a bad day to be writing this. He is still transitioning between 1-2 naps per day. This seems to be a forever transition. Sometimes he just plain won't go down for a nap early and then crashes for a later one. He sleeps long hours at Tiffany's (care provider) but we get 1.5 hours max out of him. Night time is hit or miss. He typically sleeps from about 8:30-7:30 but still wakes 2-3x's per night. Typically he eats when he wakes. We would love to cut back on this, but have yet to find the trick to do so.

He is really developing into such a fun little person. We really don't have a lot of complaints. He's been a good traveler, easy to take out, and genuinely fun to be around.

Mr. P and friends

We had a fun night with Miles and friends last night.

We ate Vietmese food.

Watched Shawna braid impossibly small braids.

Watched Sophia show off her shopping skills.

and witnessed Miles playing the prince to Cinderella.

4th of July: Part 5

A final look at our trip out west. We ended back at my sisters house.
While she doesn't technically live on a farm, her chickens come pretty close!

4th of July: Part 4

Rockin' the Fauxhawk

This is what happens after a very messy meal and with dad working the washcloth.

Still a sweetheart!

4th of July: Part 3

Patrick really enjoyed our boatrides at the Cabin. I thought he would be a little put off having to wear his life jacket, but he never put up a fuss at all.

It is always really fun to spend time with my parents. Patrick just adores them both.

We were also lucky enough to visit with Grandma/Grandpa Bliss as well as Aunt Leah a couple of the days.

On the way there we even had a nice visit with Great-Grandma Gladys. (No photos though due to my missing camera!) She was so sweet and kept saying how she could get along with Patrick "just fine".
